Ubuntu Partnership
One featured activity centered on the story of Sundiata, the legendary founder of the Mali Empire. After students read the story, a volunteer took on the role of a modern-day griot, bringing the story to life through storytelling and performance.
RootWorks developed literacy content and activities for the Ubuntu Village Project collective summer literacy program. The lessons were designed to strengthen positive Black identity and support academic success. The program was based on the understanding that when students see meaningful connections between their identities, culture, and learning, they can become more engaged in the learning process.
